| OC Transpo launches 2008 Seniors Summer Special | | | Ottawa (June 2, 2008) - OC Transpo has expanded its Seniors Summer Special this year to offer seniors who are 65 and older free rides on buses and the O-Train every Wednesday in June, July and August, starting Wednesday, June 4.“Last year’s Seniors Summer Special was very popular, and we hope that even more seniors will try transit this summer,” said Councillor Alex Cullen, Chair of the Transit Committee. “OC Transpo is an excellent and convenient option for seniors to get around the city.”Most vehicles are fully accessible with low floor features for easy boarding, and all have priority seating at the front, in addition to many other accessible features. The majority of the fleet is air conditioned, offering customers a more comfortable ride on those hot summer days.“Our special is our way of inviting seniors to reconnect with transit as a convenient way to get around and enjoy the city this summer,” said Alain Mercier, Director of Transit Services. “OC Transpo provides seniors with an affordable, convenient, safe and accessible transit service that makes it easy for them to get to appointments, go shopping or visit family and friends.”Seniors should be prepared to provide proof of age, especially those who may be mistaken for being younger than 65. This offer includes all bus routes and the O-Train, but excludes Para Transpo service. For more information, call OC Transpo at 613-741-4390 or visit www.octranspo.com.
